Silver medal for 2012 Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV) Membership Entrance Exam goes to MAcc graduate
The SAF would like to congratulate Rajan Shah (MAcc ’09) on gaining his membership to the CICBV. He successfully passed the Membership Entrance Exam (MEE) with a silver medal for achieving the second highest mark amongst the eighty new members.

Deloitte partner forms private equity firm
After 27 years with Deloitte, Andrew Dunn (MAcc '87) accepted the opportunity to join forces with his friend and partner, Andrew Sheiner, to form a new kind of private equity firm, Altas Partners, as Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer. Dunn did not have to move far from his office at Deloitte-Altus Partners in just upstairs in the same building.

As a child, Jennifer Fiddian-Green (BA '93) created a detective agency inspired by Nancy Drew. Now she's got the career she was aiming for, leading an 11-person crime-fighting team.

Sun Life appoints SAF Alumnus Kevin Strain (MAcc '90) as new head of Asian business
Kevin Strain, currently senior vice-president of individual life insurance and investments for Sun Life's Canadian division, will become president of Sun Life Financial Asia later this year Strain will take over the Asian business in June and succeed Dikran Ohannessian, who is retiring after more than 35 years with the company.

is
CFO
of
KidsAbility,
an
organization
that
empowers
children
with
special
needs
to
reach
their
full
potential.
She
joined
KidsAbility
in
2011,
after
a
twenty
year
career
in
the
"for-profit"
world,
to
give
back
to
the
community.
She
is
also
a
partner
in
Social
Venture
Partners.
Tracy
is
Chair
of
the
Board
of
Directors
of
Kitchener's
Grand
River
Hospital,
and
also
chairs
the
Waterloo
Hospitals
Collaborative
Committee,
a
group
that
seeks
out
collaborative
opportunities
to
improve
the
quality
of
hospital
care
in
the
region.
Since earning her CA and CMA designations, Tracy has co-authored an accounting standards book, taught at Ontario's School of Accountancy, marked the Uniform Final Examination, and mentored students and other young professionals.
Among her personal accomplishments, Tracy includes running a marathon, working on a mission trip and backpacking around the world for fourteen months with her husband and three young children.
Young Alumni Achievement Award winner: Jessica Chiu (MAcc 2004)
Jessica Chiu is a finance senior manager, Canadian Banking Auto and Wealth, at the TD Bank Group. She joined TD's Chief Accountant's department in 2008 working on accounting policy with a focus on the Bank's IFRS transition.
After graduation and receiving her MAcc, Jessica has been an active supporter of the School of Accounting and Finance and continues to be a strong advocate for her alma mater. Since 2006, she was the SAF Alumni Association Treasurer, and has regularly served in School events including fellowship interviews, CA convocation, and as a Fellowship Honouree.
Jessica was a member of PwC's United Way Steering committee. She has helped to author part of a module for the 'Valuations for Financial Reporting' course offered by the CICBV and a chapter on Fairness Opinions of a text published by Carswell.
Jessica currently resides in Toronto and enjoys cycling, travelling, and reading in her spare time.
